Tuotteen yksityiskohdat
- At 10:47 PM, Officer Jon Harris stood in his driveway doing pre-shift checks. Buddy was watching through the window. The Tahoe was loaded. Everything was where it belonged — same place every shift, so his hands would know where to go when his brain ran on fumes and adrenaline. This is what the graveyard shift looks like before it starts. The Graveyard Shift is a literary account of what happens in the hours when most people are asleep — on I-10 in Gonzales County, Texas, in the patrol car with Officer Harris and his K9 partner Buddy, and in the house where Katherine waits. Two tracks. One shift. The weight carried by both. You’ll ride along on traffic stops where the license plate says one thing and the driver’s hands say another. You’ll be there for the welfare check, the drug stop, the moments of routine that suddenly aren’t. You’ll see what an officer carries into a shift and what he brings home from it — what he doesn’t say at the dinner table, what he works out by grilling a ribeye and throwing a tennis ball in the backyard with the dog.And you’ll be home with Katherine, who has spent years learning what it sounds like when Jon comes through the door and what it sounds like when something happened that he won’t talk about tonight. The job doesn’t leave when the shift ends. This book shows why.For anyone who has ever worn the badge and anyone who has ever loved someone who does. The procedural detail is accurate. The emotional truth is exact. Also by Jon T. Harris: Real Police Patrol: Lessons from the Street — twelve real incidents and what they teach. The Ride-Along — one Sunday morning from the passenger seat.
