Friendship Editorial Review

**** "Amos & Boris" by William Steig is a poignant children's picture book that artfully explores themes of friendship, loss, and the transformative power of love. The narrative centers around an unlikely friendship between a whale and a mouse, illustrating how each character supports and uplifts the other despite their vast differences in size and circumstance. Many readers have praised the book for its ability to address complex emotions—such as the sadness associated with goodbyes—while also instilling a sense of gratitude for shared moments. Parents and caregivers have found the story resonates deeply with both young children and adults alike. They appreciate how the book can serve as an introduction to difficult subjects, sparking meaningful conversations about life, death, and the impact of individual actions, regardless of size or capability. Several reviews highlight the rich language and vivid illustrations that enhance the storytelling, noting that while the vocabulary may be advanced for younger readers, it provides a valuable opportunity for learning. Although the Prose is poetic and enriched with powerful imagery, some parents note that the depth of the story can lead to challenging discussions with young audiences, particularly regarding themes of mortality. Nevertheless, the overall Consensus is that this book is both entertaining and enriching, making it a timeless piece that families will cherish for years to come. **
