ELAC EA Series Integrated Amplifier, Silver (EA101EQ-G)
The ELAC EA Series Integrated Amplifier has a solid sound quality and the AutoEQ and AutoBlend features work well for room tuning. However, the soundstage is narrow and lacks punch. The DAC tends to clip at random spots when watching TV with the TOSLINK input, and the unit becomes unresponsive to remote or clicking buttons once a week. The screen also burns in and becomes illegible after some time. On the positive side, the app provides users with a lot of control. The amp has a lightweight build that feels cheap for its price, but its rubber top seems to divide opinion. There's enough power for nearfield monitoring with 8ohm speakers of average efficiency. ELAC products are seen as great value, but after five years, its speaker amp stopped working altogether. This unit is no longer available, and there's no need to bother replacing or fixing it. In summary, ELAC EA Series Integrated Amplifier offers good features at its price point. Its narrow soundstage and poor build quality can be problematic.
