The Maze 8 is the latest addition to the John Corey novel series by Nelson DeMille. The book follows Corey's attempt to uncover the rampant corruption in eastern Long Island's law enforcement apparatus, which seems to be linked to a string of unsolved murders of Prostitutes. However, most reviewers felt that the book was let down by the uninspired plot, unlikable and poorly developed characters, and occasional cringe-worthy humor. Corey himself comes off as insufferably arrogant and crude, according to some reviewers. Others felt that the book was too long-drawn and only picked up pace towards the end. Some even noted that DeMille's earlier work was much stronger than this installment.
